Kaidi Ru graduated from Yew Wah in 2014 with four A*s in A Level and two Outstanding Cambridge Learner Awards for being Top in China in AS and A Level Applied ICT in 2013 and 2014.
In 2017, Kaidi graduated with first-class honours in BA (Hon) International Development from King’s College London. She also got the first place of her class.
During her studies, she did research work for a book on the political economy of Latin America, gained three King’s Awards, and attended a short winter course at the Graduate Institute, Geneva.
Kaidi then continued her studies at the University of Cambridge and received a Master of Philosophy in Management Studies last July with commendation from the examiners. As part of her degree, Kaidi participated in a group consulting project for Lloyds Banking Group in the UK.
Reflecting her days at YWIES Yantai, Kaidi wrote:
“I spent eight fulfilling years at Yew Wah and it indeed changed my life. I progressed from someone who had vast difficulties in understanding English-taught classes to a scholarship winner and therefore, I am greatly indebted to many friends from Yew Wah. I would also like to express my sincere gratitude to my teachers, especially Mr Kevin Fu, Ms Rita Zhao, Ms Brenda Zhang, Mr Peter Yang, and many others who provided me with constant support and patient guidance during my time at Yew Wah. The School’s IGCSE and A Level courses have prepared me well for a smooth transition into the British higher education system and have equipped me with essential independent learning and critical thinking skills that are much needed in my studies.”
